ZOMBIE PLANET

***UPDATE***

Due to compatability issues with the latest ios, we;ve taken zombie planet down.  We had a lot of ideas we didn't get to bring to life with this project but for now it is dead. :(

We may resurrect, and promise if we do, it will be much bigger and better. Thanks for your support and understanding.

****************

It's been a busy year. I know I haven't been posting but I've had good reason. Since wrapping up my Autumn Moon projects, I had a few other little gigs, but nothing too heavy so I figured it was time to try my own little project. A programmer I work with at my dayjob;Marc Hebert, and I , have been tossing around a few ideas for a few months and we decided we'd try our hand at making a few iphone games. We decided to use Blistered Thumb Games as our company identity. A kick back to those button masher classics.

So this was way back in September we decided we'd get the ball rolling. Between our day job, and other clients, we didn't quite get to where we wanted to be as quickly as we would have liked, but we kept moving and the last few months have been running quite smoothly.

So with Christmas finally here, we've released our first game "Zombie Planet". It has been a fun ride working on it and we learned a ton. We've also been lucky to have Neil Kennedy join our team to give us some kicking sounds and music. All in all, quite happy with everything so far. Hopefully people get a kick out of it.

We're learning and having fun doing it. Your feedback keeps us improving and growing. And your support will keep us adding new content

Cheers and Merry Christmas.

Eep Eep!

Well one of my favourite games of all time has been making alot of news as of late. Monkey Island is back!!! Not only with a re-release of the original, with a full special edition treatment, but now also with a 5 part all new Series, Tales of Monkey Island.

As a fan, I am just giddy. And having finished playing the first part last week, I think it justifies the excitement. And by the time the series is done, Ghost Pirates should be just around the corner. Did I mention I love pirates.

So in light of all this piratey goodness, and also for a lack of up to date postings, here is what my version of Guybrush Threepwood in MI2 might look like. Hope you enjoy. I know how passionate people can be with these characters and there has always been great debate between cartooney and more realistic. I'd still love to see this design for the character allong with Bill Tiller's backgrounds, but that's just me.
Cheers

Gathering Dust...

Well for the stragglers that find there way to my blog, I'm sorry I haven't been posting. I've been busy with a few side projects and have been trying to enjoy the start of summer by staying away from the computer as much as possible. I hope to post some new stuff in May. Cheers and thanks for popping by.

Also in other news, Autumn Moon's next game has just been anounced. "Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island". I had the privilege to do some design work on this game and am looking forward to seeing the final product. Here's a couple screens from a game mag.

Sally & O'Mally

Well here is my children's book characters now in technicolor as promised. I'm pretty much done the story where I like it. I'm going to get some feedback from a couple more people and then it's time to start drawing and roughing everything out. I'm thinking the covers and sleeve will be rendered like this but the interior might be done a little simpler. Not sure yet. Maybe even watercolor. I haven't committed to an idea yet which is good as I have a couple little projects that just popped up before I get going on it. Hope somebody out there likes it. My kids like the characters. That's totally a "My mum thinks I'm cute !" comment isn't it? I'm shutting up now.

Cheers.

P.s. There's some weird pixelation going on when i post this image for some reason. The .jpg looks fine here but when I post it it gets muddy so my apologies. :)

Children's Book

So I think these will be the 2 main characters for my childrens book. Any comments/feedback is welcomed as always. Before it is brought up, they will not be crosseyed the whole book. I'm still massaging the design a bit but I have a couple colored versions I'm pretty happy with that I may post this weekend. Just trying to decide what level of finishing I should do that is both conductive to the look and style of the book, but also conductive to me getting it done. :)

a few more sketches

Here's a few more quick AVS sketches.

Been working on both writing and illustrating a childrens book lately. So many things to consider. Hardcover vs softcover. Size and dimensions. Paper texture and quality. Special printing. Combination gloss & matte. How will it look on the shelf. Will it fit good in little hands. Maybe I'm thinking too much. This is unchartered territory and even though I'm more or less making it for my kids, it'd be nice to get it out there. The written part is pretty much complete, and I've pretty much nailed down the 2 main(and pretty much only) characters. Maybe I'll post the sketches this weekend for some feedback.

Enough rambles...enjoy.

Vat is this???.....More Vampyre stuff?

Here's a few rough sketches and quick FMV shots from A Vampyre Story. Some of these were earlier versions of characters, and some of these are characters that were left out for now. All pretty rough but still fun to share. :) I myself would love to see the other 2 women of low morale fiber make an appearance someday. We'll have to wait and see. :)

Hope those of you who played the game enjoyed it. And if there's anybody who's eyeballs somehow happen to fall upon this page hasn't already picked up A Vampyre Story, go now and pick up a copy. Don't bother putting on pants they will only slow you down. Pick one up for your loved ones, your neighbors, even your cat. Valentine's day is coming. Don't walk, run.

Jessica Rabbit

I think I'll call this done for now. I got to abuse some photoshop sparkle brushes a little bit on this one. Fun to use, but easy to get carried away.

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Here's another little nostalgic piece I started today. Any artist, animator, that says they weren't moved the first time they saw Jessica Rabbit walking across the silver screen is crazy. I will try to wrap it up this weekend if I have time.

ASTROBOY(work in progress)

I'm pretty stoked about the astroboy movie having grown up on the 80's cartoons. I know some people don't dig the style but I think it looks like a 3D version of what it looked like when I was a kid, which is great for me. :)

That said I though I'd have fun and do my own take on Astro. Here's a piece i did during some downtime at work. Not quite done but on track I think.

Been a very very busy couple of weeks. Here's another little paint scribble for fun.
